David Stover

David M. Stover joined the John William Pope Foundation’s Board of Directors in 2006.  He brings a wealth of business and government knowledge to the foundation having served both sectors in leadership roles.  He is a current member of the Board of Directors for Variety Wholesalers, has been a Senior Marketing Representative for Xerox Corporation, and Assistant Secretary at the N.C. Department of Commerce.  Additionally, Stover served on the Governor’s Small Business Council and on the N.C. Economic Future Commission.  He was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine in December 2016. The Order of the Long Leaf Pine one of the highest awards presented by the governor of North Carolina for exemplary service to the state that is above and beyond the call of duty.

Currently, Stover serves on the Board of Trustees for the Asheville School and the Board of Directors for the John Locke Foundation (since 1989), The Fund for America Studies, and Philanthropy Roundtable. He is a former appointed member of the Board of Directors for the Golden LEAF Foundation.  He is a life-long conservative with a commitment to free-market principles.  Stover received his B.S. in business administration from the University of Richmond and his M.B.A. from the Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University. He and his wife live in Raleigh and have two adult daughters.
